On October 21, 2019, President Tseng-Chang Su of the Executive Yuan announced the Open Mountain and Forest Policy at the press conference “Tribute to the Mountains”. The policy includes the five main directions of openness, transparency, service, education, and responsibility.
In the future, in addition to promoting environmental education and hiking safety to strengthen the risk assessment, safety management, and self-help ability of hikers, the trail and signage system within the national park will be actively integrated. All of these measures will help optimize the “Hike Smart Taiwan Service” platform to provide a wide range of information that can be of assistance to mountain climbers.
The Open Mountain and Forest Policy has been well received by the public. If you have experienced the beauty of nature through hiking and felt its healing benefits, we hope you can also help promote proper hiking safety and the concept of “Leaving No Trace” when in the wild. Let us work together to create a safe, orderly, and eco-friendly hiking culture, so that the Open Mountain and Forest Policy can be promoted in a sustainable manner and gain the support and recognition of the public.
