Tiaoshi Nanwan Bay Coral Community Crisis Resolved

Fan Tong-yun, an Associate Research Fellow of the Department of Earth Sciences, National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, has recently been observing the Tiaoshi area of Nanwan Bay. He reported that, as the water quality has improved, the sea anemone (Condylactis nanwanensis) population that used to cover the ocean bed like a carpet and had overrun the coral community has greatly diminished. Montipora stellata, on the other hand, is respectively increasing. The previous ecological crisis that had originated from the poor water quality has thus been resolved.
