Yushan National Park Headquarters has released a new book in 2018 as part of the ongoing Tataka Hikes series: ”Encounters with the Tawny Wood Owl”, a book containing observation notes of the tawny wood owl (Strix aluco). The book presents records of the activities of tawny owls in Tataka with illustrations by hand and ecological photos. The author is the commissioned researcher Yin Li-Min of Yushan National Park Headquarters. She often uses time after work to record the activities of wild animal resources in the Tataka region.
This book was independently planned by fellow workers at the Tataka Station and designed and printed by Green Vision Engineering Ltd. The tawny owl is the main theme of the illustrations in the notebook, a rare observer’s notebook focused on a single region and species. The book depicts the form and features of as well as ecological knowledge and other information on the tawny owl, intertwined with the author’s heart-felt emotions during the process of observation. In the future, the book will be used in the Yushan National Park Headquarters Tataka Environmental Education Site course program for research and development.
