Kite flying, Frisbee throwing, and grass sliding are prohibited at the Qintiangang grassland. The public are urged to obey the law.

Qingtiangang grassland is a special scenery area in Yangmaingshan National park. It is one of the favorite destinations. In today’s Upaper of the MRT and Taipei Tourism website, Taipei City Government published a headline, “In this four-day long weekend, Taipei changes into a playing field for children. Let the party go wild”. In the body of report under that headline, a paragraph said, “whether you are at Qingtiangang grassland flying kites, throwing Frisbees, walking with cows, or sliding on a simple paperboard—daringly without fear of dying—down the slope…” The activities mentioned in the quoted text—kite flying, Frisbee throwing, or grass sliding—could be mistaken by birds as raptors’ attacks, scaring the birds to flee and would damage the grass, expose the soil, interfere with the ecology, and damage the environment. Those activities violate item 4 of Activities Prohibited in Yangmingshan National Park, and the park may issue penalty based on Article 13(8) of National Parks Act, “such other acts as prohibited by the administration of a national park”, and Article 26 of the same act. Yangmingshan National Park administration reminds the public to refrain from violating the law. We heartedly welcome people to visit the park. But please remember to “take photos but nothing else, and leave your footsteps and nothing else.” Please treat nature gingerly and remember to “leave no trace.”
