Taroko National Park receives a flood of visitors during summer vacation and Shakadang Trail and Eternal Spring Shrine (Changchun Shrine) near the visitor center are especially popular with visitors from Taiwan and overseas. The narrowness of the gorge means that parking space is limited, making parking inconvenient and creating other traffic-related problems. To maintain the quality of visits to Taroko the national park headquarters is laying on free shuttle buses to Shakadang Trail and Eternal Spring Shrine during summer vacation and hopes that members of the public make good use of the service.
The free shuttles buses will operate at weekends from August 1 to September 13 from 8.30 am to 4 pm.The route begins at Fushi village activity center(富世村活動中心) near the entrance to Taroko and passes old Taroko weigh station(舊太魯閣地磅站), Shakadang Trail trailhead(砂卡礑步道口)and Eternal Spring Shrine (Changchun Shrine 長春祠), then returns to Fushi village activity center via the old Taroko weigh station. It is estimated that a service will run every 10 to 15 minutes. The free shuttle service will allow visitors to reach these two popular spots easily and will also reduce the number of vehicles in the gorge, reducing congestion and helping maintain good air quality.
The free Shakadang Trail and Eternal Spring Shrine shuttle bus will operate on August 1 and 2, 8 and 9, 15 and 16, 22 and 23, 29 and 30 and September 5 and 6, 12 and 13. Members of the public are invited to make good use of this service.
