A: The traffic controls are in effect at km 178+500m marker on the Highway NO. 8- the Central Cross-Island Highway. It is about 8 kilometer(about 10 minutes by car) from the east entrance to Taroko gorge. Traffic Control period：May 1, 2016, ~ May 31, 2016 Traffic control time: From 08:00am - 17:00 Passage time: 10 minutes on the hour, eg: 08:00-08:10, 09:00-09:10, 10:00-10:10, … etc. For the safety of road users, cars and pedestrians are not allowed to pass during the controls. No traffic controls for the weekends and National holidays. B: at km 176.1-176.8, four passage a day Due to the serious rockslides at km 176.3(Zhuilu Tunnel) on the highway No. 8, for the safety of road users the Highway Bureau Luoshao Maintenance office shows that the repair work will continue to the third stage works to improve the safety of road users. The traffic controls are in effect at km 176.1~ km176.8 Xiufu Tunnel- Jinheng Tunnel, 4 passages a day for cars and pedestrians. It is about 12-15 minutes by car either from Taroko east gorge entrance heading to the west or Tianxiang direction heading down to the east. The four passages are 10:00-10:10, 12:00pm-13:00, 15:00-15:10, and 17:00-second morning 8:00am. Control Period: April 29 – May 31, 2016(including weekends) Visitors who is travelling to Taroko gorge for sightseeing will be affected by this two highway construction sites.(A + B traffic controls) Planning ahead for your visit. C: at km 148+500m marker on the Highway NO. 8- the Central Cross-Island Highway. It is about 38 kilometer(about an hour and a half by car) from the east entrance via Taroko gorge heading west to Nantou and Taichung. Traffic Control period：May 1, 2016, ~ May 31, 2016 Traffic control time: From 08:00am - 17:00 Passage time: 10 minutes on the hour eg: 08:00-08:10, 09:00-09:10, 10:00-10:10, … etc. No traffic controls for the weekends and National holidays. If the construction work does not affect the safety of road users, the traffic controls will be cancelled. Sorry for the inconvenience. For the highway marker km 148.5, visitors, heading to Taichung or Nantou, will be affected by this traffic control.
