Shei-pa National Park has been damaged by Typhoon Sinlaku

Shei-pa National Park has been damaged by Typhoon Sinlaku. Mountain climbing routes have been temporarily closed

During Typhoon Sinlaku (辛樂克颱風) Shei-pa National park was hit by strong wind and heavy rain, with 1000 mm of rain falling in the park and surrounding area, causing mudslides and collapses in many places on the park access roads (forest roads), rendering the roads impassable. Taiwan Highway Bureau and forestry units are currently working full-out to repair the roads. Park staff have patrolled the park to acquire an understanding of the damage inflicted by the typhoon. The Mt. Syue main peak-east peak route, Jhijiayang route, Shenling route, Dasiaojian route, Wuling Siji route, Daba route and Mt. Syue west ridge routes have been temporarily closed. The date of the re-opening of these mountain climbing routes will be announced after repair work is finished and after a safety assessment.

Shei-pa National Park HQ calls on people to stay away from the park until further notice for their own safety because the access roads (forest roads) have been cut and are very dangerous and also to pay attention to the park website for the latest news.
