Shei-Pa National Park and Formosan Green Life Recreational Development Association will jointly hold an ecotourism activity called "Smangus—God's tribe" on June 24-25, leading participants into the most secluded tribe in Jianshih Township of Hsinchu County—Smangus tribe. This 2-day-1-night trip allows 40 participants only and can be signed up via Formosan Green Life Recreational Development Association at 886-2-25007227.
As one of the adjacent tribes around Shei-Pa National Park, over 1,500-meter-high Smangus tribe was once called a black tribe due to its inaccessibility in the past. Long time ago, a team led by Mangus set up a tribe near Syue Mountain, so that his descendents named the tribe "Smangus" in memory of him.
Walking on the trail in the tribe is cool, for there are about 20 giant trees along it, one of them 20.5 meters in girth and 2,500 years old. June is also the right time to taste peaches, plums, and bamboo shoots here.
