“Beyond Qijiawan,” the documentary on Formosan landlocked salmon, has taken Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters two years to complete. It will be released to four Shei-Pa National Park visitor centers in November 2013. The film will premiere at the National Taiwan University Convention Center on October 31, 2013.
Lin Qing, director of the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters, explained that the film is narrated by park conservation workers. The film placed particular emphasis on “hope.” Hope is a force, a positive force that can change the environment. Hope for survival is what pushes the salmon to surge forward, struggling over boulders and swimming against raging torrents. Their courage, passed down from the Ice Age, is what inspired the title “Beyond Qijiawan.”
