National Parks of Taiwan

Construction and Planning Agency, the Ministry of the Interior has started in 2001, the International Year of Volunteers, a tradition of annual joint conference of volunteers at national parks and urban parks in Taiwan. The membership includes all national parks, national nature parks, and urban parks. Each year, one park and its volunteer organization host the annual conference. Taichung Metropolitan Park and its volunteer organization get to host the event this year (2015). Volunteers from all these member parks gathered in Taichung Metropolitan Park for this great event. This is the first time that they have hosted the event, from May 1 to May 3, and they are excited. Director Qiu of the volunteer organization at Taichung Metropolitan Park said, “We always went to other parks for past conferences. It’s finally our turn to play host to you. We will take you to see and get to know Taichung, the beautiful. We hope that at the end of this conference we will leave you with beautiful memories.” Many dignitaries and superior officials came to the event. Construction and Planning Agency Director General Wun-Long Hsu, section head Zhang De-xu, directors of all park administrations, many managers, and volunteers all graced this event. Mr. Hsu urged the participants at the closing ceremony. He said, “Each and every volunteer is an indispensible member of the national park, national nature park, or urban park. Through this annual conference, we can exchange ideas and learn from each other. I thank the staff of Taichung Metropolitan Park and its volunteers for their special efforts to host this event. I hope you all learned a lot.” Now this year’s event is over. We look forward to the next conference at our first national park, Kenting National Park for another session of exchange of one year’s worth of experiences. Volunteers, let’s strive for even better performance. Look forward to seeing you next year.
