National Parks of Taiwan

Do you have fond memories of traveling with parents and elders when you were little? This year (2018), in an effort to invite a larger demographic to visit the National Parks, the Ministry of the Interior Construction and Planning Agency has organized the 2018 Inviting You to Visit National Parks as a Family series of events. Each National Park Headquarters has designed tours suited to children, their parents and grandparents to enjoy together as a family.

Kinmen National Park Headquarters will kick the events off on March 24 (Saturday), inviting friends from all over the world to "Stroll in Zhongshan Memorial Forest, and Experience the Beauty of Nature and the Fun of Walking". The event seeks to invite 360 people from multi-generational families. At 8:00am on the day of the event, participants will first report to the Zhongshan Memorial Forest Visitor's Center and receive their event map, which they will then follow to collect stamps at each stage. Only three stamps are needed to receive a limited edition souvenir that you can bring home along with joyful memories.

The Kinmen National Park Headquarters will also promote overnight stays at traditional residences from April 21-22 (Saturday-Sunday). Those who want to sign up must provide proof of direct kinship. 8 families and around 48 people will be chosen to take part. The event incorporates and involves the Shuitou Community. Besides tasting local Kinmen cuisine and traditional banquets, these three-generation families can also experience DIY classes where they will make traditional Kinmen red rice cakes and spring rolls.

Shoushan National Nature Park Headquarters organizes Mountain and Ocean Romance - Natural Science Camp from 9:00am to 4:30pm March 25 (Sunday). The event aims to emphasize the geological features of Shoushan's proximity to the mountains and ocean. Participants need to find their own transportation to Shoushan. By experiencing the surprise of walking on a mountain trail that leads to the seaside, participants will get a feel for the diversity of the natural landscape.

The day of the event will feature many exploration activities. By guiding participants to observe and experience nature in the wooded mountains, this will open their eyes to the beauty of nature. By, for example, walking blindfolded through the mountain forests, participants will be able to break through the limits of the five senses, and quietly listen to their surroundings.

On the afternoon of the event, participants will walk through the seaside forest and experience nature's changing scenery. Under the shining sun, participants can search for gems both natural and artificial on the ground.

The 2018 Inviting You to Visit National Parks as a Family series of events will be held from March 24 (Saturday) to September 22 (Saturday), a total of 32 sessions. The series will be able to accommodate more than 400 families, and over 1400 people.
