Yangmingshan National Park is home to hundreds and thousands of butterflies that are attracted to the area by the abundance of nectar bearing plants especially during late spring and early summer. The Park’s 150 plus species of butterflies play important roles in preserving the area’s ecology and biodiversity through the pollination and then regeneration of plants.
The 2007 Yangmingshan Butterfly Season is a series of 12 programs and activities planned and jointly sponsored by Yangmingshan National Park, The Butterfly Conservation Society of Taiwan, Toyota Hotai Motor Ltd. and Kuozui Motors Ltd. The programs began in early May and will conclude at the end of June.
The major events will take place on June 2 and 3 (Saturday and Sunday) with the official opening ceremony being held on June 2 from 8:00-10:00 AM at Jhongshan Building. There will be shuttle buses running both days from Jhongshan Building to Jhuzihshan (Bamboo Mountain) where visitors can walk with the “dancing” butterflies on a 3 kilometer trail specially opened for this 2 day event. There are different activities planned along the way encouraging guest participation. The shuttle bus will leave Jhongshan Building, beginning at 9:00 AM with the last bus returning from Jhuzihshan to Jhongshan Building at 2:30 PM.
Yangmingshan National Park sincerely welcomes your participation
