Festival of Spring: 102 Yangmingshan Flower Fest

Flowers blossoming, creatures of Mother Earth awakening from the bitter winter, Yangmingshan comes alive in cheerful spring. The 2013Yangmingshan Flower Fest ran from February 12th to March 17th. A series of activities received positive feedback. Illusions- Balloon Modeling and Magic Show, Ingenuity- Play Things and Fashion Accessories DIY, Laughter- Narrative and Musical Performance, and Sounds of Heaven- Music Concerts, the visitors enjoyed a feast for the soul in the midst of a sea of flower; beautiful sights lightened the hearts. To divert the traffic and crowds, the organizer planned traffic control systems ahead of time and made sufficient information available to the public with instant updates. Good planning not only ensured smooth traffic flow for the visitors, but also protected the environment from harm. Several traffic control plans were quite effective, including setting up control points at the entrance of Fuxing Bridge which controls entrance to the park through Yangde Boulevard, intersection of Yangming Road and Zhongheng Street which controls the exit traffic, and the flexible post at Hutian Bridge which controls the access to the Zhuzihu area. These measures effectively eased congestion along the major roads leading to Yangmingshan. The organizer also put in tremendous efforts to promote public transportation and effectively planned the Flower Fest buses, shuttle buses, park excursion buses, and easy-access transportation services. Effective mass transportation not only provided the public easy access to the events, but also encouraged the public to take actions for energy-saving and carbon reduction in an effortless way. This was a perfect chance to advocate care for nature and the environment through fun events. The organizer, sponsors, and Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters made their best efforts to maintain the quality of the recreational facilities and ecology guides, striving to bring the public the best experience of Spring Fest. Starting with the new year of 2013, Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters hosted the opening of Qixingshan environmental education facility and launched a series of environmental education activities and programs, including ecotourism and eco-experience events. These programs and events are targeted to provide accurate knowledge of ecology and environment and help visitors to learn how to implement environmental-friendly practice in their daily activities. The core value of environmental education is to bring the public into the outdoors without burdening nature, and the goal is to raise environmental awareness while enjoying the beauty of the nature. We are dedicated to keeping this piece of land blossoming and giving visitors the most beautiful show of life year after year.
