Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior in 2013 planned the first National Park Week, an innovative activity series that invites the public to go outdoors and experience the unique beauty of nature, landscapes, culture, and ecology in national parks. The event was held underthe theme “Taiwan travel, walking for health,” and planned a series of hikesfrom mountains to the sea, leading people through Taiwan’s national parks and bringing them closer to nature. The event received excellent feedback.
The 2014 National Park Week has spectacular activities planned under thetheme “micro travel,” advocating that detailed plans and long travel time is not necessary. A one day or two day micro travel to relax and enjoy health is enough. The innovative recreational activities and working holiday allow participants to experience ecological travel and guide the public to see thebeauty of national parks.
The event will be held from June 1st to September 30th, contents include “103K national park hike” and “innovative recreation activities,” for which 38 hiking trails from mountain to sea and 22 activitieswere planned for the public to choose from. You can obtain a 103K Hike Passportat each national park headquarters, metropolitan park office and national nature park preparatory office, or download the passport at the activity website. Participants of the National Park Week will not only personally visitnational parks and experience slow living outdoors, but also be able to applyfor certification and exchange for souvenirs once they reach a certain mileage.This event promotes natural ecology and conservation concepts, and brings themission of environmental education into daily life.
