Visit Yushan National Park for the Chinese New Year Bunun Cultural Exhibition and Mountain of Art Special Exhibition

Want to experience a different kind of travel? Going on an environmentally friendly eco-travel is a good opportunity to draw near nature and become acquainted with national parks! Yushan National Park has many natural and cultural assets. This year, Yushan National Park held the “Mountain of Art Special Exhibition,” which contains 35 watercolor paintings, Chinese paintings, oil paintings, and calligraphy featuring Yushan National Park, including Mt. Jade, Mt. Jade East Peak, and Fuqi Tree, showing the beauty of Yushan National Park’s ecological landscape. Thirty artists were invited to take part in the exhibition. Yushan National Park Headquarters pointed out that the exhibition was an extension of the “Artists paint Yushan” event held in 2011, which invited painters from Central Taiwan to submit their artistic creations in Tataka, compiled an album of the artworks, and held a tour exhibition. The event widely attracted the participation of the public and artists, showing the beauty of Yushan through art. Another major event this year is the Chinese New Year Bunun Cultural Exhibition, which shares Bunun culture via an exhibition and performances. Visitors can experience traditional Bunun ceremonies, songs, dances and culture. Activities include a presentation of traditional lifestyles of Bunun people via a sing along song (the wandering song), reporting battle achievements in the cultural ceremony, celebration feast, eight-part harmonic singing, rituals, and traditional indigenous dance. Representatives of Bunun performers and Tataka interpreters hosted the event in a sincere and interesting way, letting visitors understand differences between different cultures as they welcomed the new year in Yushan National Park. Under its role to promote and preserve indigenous culture and develop the park’s unique culture, Yushan National Park organizes diverse events in hopes of acquainting the public with Mt. Jade, so that they will further exploreMt. Jade. Yushan National Park has diverse precious assets that are at risk of irreversible damage. Hence, we must cherish this land and use in-depth eco-travel to protect the beauty of Yushan National Park’s ecology.
